Electrical Inspection

Thorough electrical system inspections for home buyers, sellers, and property owners. We identify safety hazards, code violations, and potential problems before they become emergencies.

Why Get an Electrical Inspection?

Whether you're buying a home, selling a property, or simply concerned about an aging electrical system, a professional inspection gives you a clear picture of what's working, what's not, and what needs attention.

We inspect the entire electrical system—from the service entrance and main panel to outlets, switches, and wiring throughout the property. Our goal is to identify safety hazards, code violations, outdated components, and potential failure points before they cause problems.

What We Inspect

  • Service entrance and meter – Proper grounding, secure connections, adequate capacity
  • Main panel and subpanels – Correct breaker sizing, no double-taps, proper labeling
  • Wiring and circuits – Aluminum wiring, knob-and-tube, improper splices, overloaded circuits
  • GFCI and AFCI protection – Required locations per current code
  • Outlets and switches – Reversed polarity, open grounds, loose connections
  • Grounding and bonding – Proper grounding electrode system, bonded metal components
  • Smoke and CO detectors – Proper placement and interconnection

When You Need an Inspection

Home purchase or sale – Most lenders and buyers require an inspection. We provide a detailed report that helps negotiate repairs or price adjustments.

Older homes – If your home is more than 40 years old and hasn't been updated, an inspection can reveal hidden hazards like outdated wiring, undersized panels, or missing safety devices.

After major storms or water damage – Water and electricity don't mix. We check for compromised wiring, corroded connections, and damaged components.

Before renovations – Know what you're working with before you start a project. An inspection can reveal whether your existing system can handle additional load.

Routine safety check – Even if nothing seems wrong, a periodic inspection (every 10–15 years) is good practice for older systems.

What You'll Receive

We provide a written report detailing our findings, including:

  • Safety hazards that require immediate attention
  • Code violations that should be corrected
  • Recommendations for upgrades or improvements
  • Photos of problem areas when helpful

The report is clear and straightforward—no jargon, just the facts you need to make informed decisions.

Code Compliance and Safety

New Jersey follows the National Electrical Code with state amendments. Older homes were built to earlier standards, and while they may have been compliant at the time, they often lack modern safety features like GFCI protection, AFCI breakers, and adequate grounding.

We don't expect every home to meet current code unless work is being done, but we will flag serious safety issues regardless of when the system was installed.

Schedule Your Inspection

Most residential inspections take two to three hours, depending on the size and complexity of the system. We can typically provide reports within 24 hours.

Common questions
Do I need to be present during the inspection?+

You don't have to be, but we recommend it. Being there allows us to show you problem areas in person and answer questions on the spot. If you can't be present, we'll provide a thorough written report and follow up by phone.

Will the inspection tell me if my panel needs an upgrade?+

Yes. We evaluate whether your panel has adequate capacity for your current and anticipated electrical load, and whether it meets modern safety standards. If an upgrade is needed, we'll explain why and what's involved.

How is this different from a home inspector's electrical check?+

Home inspectors provide a general overview. We're licensed electricians who perform a more detailed evaluation, open panels, test circuits, and identify issues that require electrical expertise to diagnose. Our reports go deeper.
